Our Dental Team
Jennifer Avery—Dental Assistant
I joined the practice in 2004 after a strong desire to change my “work routine” into a “career I enjoy”. Being a member of Dr. Gotterer’s team has been and continues to be a positive learning experience. Over the past two years I have enjoyed taking dental related classes and attending seminars with my team.
“I feel fortunate to be working chair side with Dr. Gotterer and seeing the wonderful healthy smiles he helps people to achieve. It’s great to be a member of such a caring and dedicated team.”
Teresa Davenport—Office Manager
After completing McCanns Technical Dental Assisting Program in 1996 I became a part of the team working with Jon Gotterer to deliver excellent dental care, and have been working with him for over 10 years.
“I’ve seen people accomplish amazing dental transformations with Jon’s help. The smiles on their faces say it all!”
Carey Hescock—Receptionist
I graduated from McMann Technical Dental Assisting Program in 1988. I started working for Dr. Gotterer in 1995. I’m very fortunate to be part of such a competent, enthusiastic, caring team.
“I enjoy working at the business desk for Dr. Jon Gotterer. It’s my pleasure to provide our patients with outstanding dental care.”
Mary Knepper— Registered Dental Hygienist
I graduated in 1997 with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, and have been practicing with Dr. Gotterer for the past five years. I also obtained Local Anesthesia Certification in 2005 from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts.
I’m a longstanding member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, and formally held the secretarial position for the Berkshire District Dental Hygiene Association. I enjoy the challenge of treating periodontal disease and educating, supporting, and motivating patients on good oral hygiene practices. I get excited when patients recognize the improvements in their oral health.
“My humorous nature puts patients at ease. When I have a child patient, the highlight of the visit is spraying Dr. Gotterer with the air/water syringe!”
Heidi Morehouse—Dental Assistant/Accounts Payable Manager
After deciding it was time for a career change, I began to work for Dr. Gotterer in 2001 as a dental assistant. Throughout the past five years I have taken various courses relating to dental assisting and I am currently enrolled at Berkshire Community College. Within the last six months I have also taken on the responsibility of handling the accounts payable. I work with a fun-loving, enthusiastic staff and look forward to coming to work each day.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working side by side with Dr. Gotterer. He helps people gain confidence through a healthy, beautiful smile.”
Joanne Simpson—Registered Dental Hygienist
I am a 1995 graduate of the Hudson Valley Community College Dental Hygiene program, and completed my local anesthesia training at Mt. Ida College in 2005. Being part of a practice that is dedicated to providing a full measure of service to every patient makes me feel very fortunate. Keeping our patients comfortable is central to the treatment we provide. I am committed to the early detection of dental disease, and educating my patients and the public about the oral-overall health connection.
I am past president of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists Association and have been a National Delegate to the American Dental Hygienists Association. I have been actively involved in helping influence legislators on patient and hygienist issues. I also serve in a local health clinic providing dental care to people who cannot afford dental treatment which is very important to me. I was the recipient of the Massachusetts Dental Society “Hygienist of the Year Award” in 2003.
“In addition to treating our patients with the best professional care, Dr. Gotterer works together with our entire team in a caring and sharing environment. I love coming to work everyday!”
